About us

Having spent many happy holidays in France, we bought our house in 2007, originally for use as a holiday home. When we first saw it we fell in love with the somewhat derelict little farmhouse and enormous stone barns. We loved the area because it was so peaceful and beautiful.

Being in the heart of the countryside we really get to see the changing seasons and we appreciate each of them for their differences. From the cold, crisp days early in the year, we look forward to the first flowers in spring, followed by a profusion of greenery as everything bursts into life. In summer the fields are ablaze with sunflowers under a brilliant blue sky, then in autumn the hedgerows are filled with walnuts, sweet chestnuts and sloes. In winter we enjoy going for an invigorating walk or cycle ride before relaxing in front of the fire with a glass of wine.

When our children left home, we decided we would move to France permanently for a lifestyle change. We left behind our careers in IT Service Management and Education, and started to convert the barn into a three-bedroomed gîte. We know how important holiday time is so we have tried to create a comfortable gîte with plenty of room to relax and unwind.

We live on site, but at the other end of the courtyard, so we are nearby if you need us but not close enough to affect your privacy. We are always available to help you with any query that you might have, whether it is which bakery does the best croissants, where to go for a great lunch, or our recommendations for a good day out.

We very much hope that you will choose to have your holiday here and we look forward to welcoming you to the Gîte d'Artige.

À bientôt,

Sue & Adrian
